Unlike high volume runs, smaller production runs can be produced more cost effectively by using conventional tooling or single operation tooling as its also known. This process involves multiple tools, where each stage of the pressing is done separately to achieve the final form. In single operation/conventional tooling, there are cost advantages with the tooling however they do take longer to produce than progression tooling. This process applies to deep drawing also.
